Travelling to Exotic India

Home to over 1.22 billion people, India stretches across approximately 1147955 square miles, starting from the famous Himalayas in the north to the beaches of Andaman and Nicober Islands in the Indian Ocean in the south. Furthermore, 75,000 year old incredible India is not only endowed with diverse and exotic natural landscape but also bears a rich blend of cultures from its contact with various ethnicities from across Europe to China.
Tourism India
Given that India is a treasure trove for the curious and adventurous, it is of little wonder that the tourism industry has boomed in this country. According to the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC), India’s tourism industry not only generated US $ 121 billion in 2011 but accounted for 6.4% of the country’s total GDP; the industry’s contribution is expected to rise by at least 7.3% in future years. With a US $26.9 billion investment in hotels, airlines, airports, travel agents and leisure and recreation services, in 2011, tourism in India had also accounted for about approximately 39,352,000 jobs across the nation.
Luxury Tours in India
In India, ‘luxury tour’ is more than just about travelling in or being surrounded by the greatest comfort. Whether it is embarking on a spiritual journey or simply exploring the remnants of India’s colonial past, tours in India offer travelers the luxury to pick, choose and indulge in those experiences that resonate closely with his or her desires. Nowadays, in addition to having fixed and small group trips, Indian tourist agents also offer assisted, independent trips that give travelers the freedom to customize their itineraries at their convenience. Lastly, a ‘luxury India tour’ is not only affordable but can be relatively cheap compared to the cost of travelling to other international tourist destinations. For example, an eight day India private tour—including including flights, local travel, at least a three-star accommodation and entrance fees to sights—can cost an estimated AU $1917 whereas for the same length of time, a private tour in China would cost about AU $4033. Thus, a luxurious tour in India is less likely to put a huge dent in the traveler’s wallet in comparison to tours in other countries.
Rajasthan Travel
The princely state of Rajasthan bears testament to the glory of the Hindu Rajput kings and highlights the unique culture of its people as well as the beauty of the state’s desert landscape. In addition to the blue ‘Sun City’ of Jodhpur or the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, Jaisalmer—Rajasthan’s desert city set in the middle of the Great Indian Desert—lets tourists observe breathtaking sunsets from its surrounding sand dunes. The small village of Khejarli is also noteworthy as its inhabitants, the nature loving Bishnois, pay homage every year to the 363 martyrs who lost their lives to save the Khejri trees in their village in 1730 AD. According to Lonely Planet—Discovery Channel’s renowned travel show—it can cost between AU $40 to AU$65 per day for touring the state. It seems like a small price to pay for indulging in Rajasthan’s endless wonders.
