The 19th Tiger Reserve to be included under the Project Tiger, destined to protect the wild beasts and their habitats, the Pench National Park is strategically located in the central part of India.Situated in the Seoni and Chhindwara districts of southern Madhya Pradesh, some part of the park is also located in the Maharashtra state of India.Spread in an area of 758 sq km, the park is in the lower southern foot of the Satpuda hills and is named after the Pench River flowing through the park from north to south.Rudyard Kipling's classic tale of the jungle boy Mowgli, in the Jungle Book, described almost the entire national park.

Among the less crowded and less visited than the other notable parks in Madhya Pradesh, the Pench National Park, has an untouched terrain filled with dense teak forests, supporting a rich and diverse range of wildlife.Featuring the highest density of herbivores in India, the park houses a good number of Tigers, a main cat species.Being in huge numbers, one can easily spot the king of the jungle. Most frequently observed wildlife includes chital, sambar, nilgai, wild boar and jackal.Other wild animals founds at Pench are leopard, sloth bear, wild dog, porcupine, jungle cat, fox, striped hyena, gaur and chowsingha.
