Naturally, the question is: what is a guided meditation and how does it help me achieve deep meditation? The answer lies in the use of the monaural, binaural and isochronic beats which are at the heart of this method.
Monaural beats are a single pulse at a single frequency which is repeated beneath other soothing sounds. Think the soft whoomp of a slow ceiling fan.
Binaural beats are a repetitive beat which is phased at different frequencies to each ear. When the difference in these frequencies is between 10 – 30 hertz the brain compensates for the difference by creating a third tone equal to that difference. This captures the conscious mind and it gradually begins to attune to the pulse of the tones. The purpose is to quiet the conscious mind of its continuous jangle of thoughts and allow the subconscious mind to express its creativity and curiosity.
Isochronic tones on the other hand, are created by an evenly spaced pulsing of tones at a far higher frequency (although variable depending on the purpose of the meditation) which rapidly synchronizes the brain patterns with the pulse. Overlaid with the sounds of rain, water, wind, ocean and music, the effect is a rapid and effortless reduction of the constant chatter in our minds. Pound for pound, isochronic tones are far more powerful than either monaural or binaural beats, especially when it comes to guided meditation.
What this means is that using isochronic tones allows the mind to rapidly achieve a very relaxed state and immediately begin to fall into deep meditation. Another advantage of using a guided meditation, is that no effort is required on the part of the meditator. In fact, the more passive you are, the better. You just listen to the soothing sounds of water, wind, rain and music with the pulse in the background, while your mind effortlessly achieves deep meditation. When the mp3 finishes, you are pleasantly surprised because your conscious mind has been elsewhere, allowing the creativity of the sub-conscious mind to surface. As you become accustomed to listening to the mp3 meditation, it is possible to easily induce a deep meditation simply by remembering the sound of the binaural beats or isochronic tones. In other words, your brain remembers the effects!
By varying the speed and the content of the binaural beats or isochronic tones, it is possible to accurately target the areas of your life that you wish to improve. Whether it be for stress relief, lowering blood pressure, (yes, that is just one of meditation’s benefits), reducing cholesterol, achieving lucid dreaming or even awakening your esp, using a guided meditation download will assist you in achieving them all. They really do change your mind.
Kindness is more important than wisdom.
