How to Make Change Add to Your Life Rather Than Fear It

Do you welcome change or do you run from it? In my experience, most people are scared of change.

Why? I truly believe that society gears us up to be fearful of the thought of change and teaches us that change is not progression or simply something that can add to your life.

As parents many of us make decisions about what is good for our children based on what was "good enough for us" growing up. So many of us seek stability and consistency because we were brought up by a society that believed and continues to believe in the value of bricks and mortar being the only way to achieve security.

But what if change is brought on us to benefit our life? What if we actively seek change so we move the direction of our lives willingly?

Many people only make a begrudging change because the world will make a change that forces them into it. For example, you may hate your occupation and want to try something else. Then one day you are taken into your superior's room and informed that you have been made redundant. You get angry, you feel fear and then you think: well now I'll go and try my hand at what I have been thinking about doing because I need a change and I have some money coming in. How many times do you hear of this scenario?

Imagine if instead of begrudgingly being given change you had willingly embraced change and just gone and done it? There would be less stress, less frustration and ultimately more security because you could plan, control and roll this change out.

You must begin to think of change as adding to your life. This is strategically important specifically within your soul's development as it actually means you can choose your path and work this path to your advantage.

To add change to your life you need to:

1. Assess where you are and where you want to be and take the necessary actions to move you toward where you want to be. That means writing these elements down to make them anchored for you and start your thinking about direction on a strategic platform.

2. Be careful with whom you share your plans and opinions. Not everyone will embrace change (in fact many actively oppose it) so why ask people who are not into the concept about their thoughts on your potential changes? These people can undermine your confidence and generate self-sabotage if you choose to believe their negativity, so beware.

3. Know that there are others who have made changes before you and are very capable of offering you their advice on the concept. Go and ask those whose changes you admire and find out their strategy.

4. Know that for as long as it takes to sit in indifference, you can be sitting in action and moving your future into a pro-active position. Right now - ask yourself what you want to change, why you want to change it and how you can take the first step.

5. Know that there has never been an opportunity like this very second to be honest and say to yourself that you are worth investing in. Your happiness, your potential, your capacity and your vision is a highly valued commodity - invest in it.

Change is about growth, development and in its true form is about creating your future - making your story the one you want to be reading about.

Understand that what may have been good enough for others may not be good enough for you. Allow yourself to become what you want via change - not what everyone else has been.

Coping with Christmas and the Fear Season
When you hear the strains of Hark the Herald Angels Sing or Jingle Bells, it can sound like one of two things: a celebration about the imminent joy of Christmas, or a warning siren that the fear season is rapidly approaching and once again you are not ready to cope with it. Here's how to cope if Christmas is your fear season. What is the Fear Season? Every year, all I hear is how hard Christmas will be with the current economic problems, a possible rise again in interest rates and general...

Are You Relocating or Running Away
? So many times when we feel that our life is not going the way we need to, or when we feel that everything that is hurting us or holding us back is in our immediate environment, we think that leaving this environment will break the deadlock. But will it? You need to ask yourself - are you relocating or running away? Relocating is making an educated decision to change environments to improve your position, whatever level that position may be. Running away is taking flight because you feel you...

How a Mantra Can Improve Your Focus in Life
Mantra has become a misused word - one that gets casually thrown into everyday conversations and is even used as the name of a major hotel chain. But what exactly is a mantra, how do you create your own and how can you use one to improve your life? According to the Collins Dictionary online a mantra is: (Hinduism) a sacred verbal formula repeated in prayer, meditation, or incantation, such as an invocation of a god, a magic spell, or a syllable or portion of scripture containing mystical...

What Everyone Can Learn From Oprah s Australian Visit
Whether you love her or hate her or just don't rate her, there is no denying that Oprah Winfrey's recent Australian visit caused excitement and palpable anticipation wherever she went. I feel that she captured a special spirit and hope with her visit that made many Australians feel proud when they saw her admiration of the country and people reflected in their eyes. Marketers and brand makers have long talked about the Oprah Effect in commercial terms, but I think there is an Oprah Effect in...

Why Successful Women Feel Like Frauds and How Not To
As a female business owner with a client base that's 80% female I receive many questions from outwardly successful women who doubt their abilities and fall prey to thinking I'm a fraud. In my experience this is rarely something that men think, and as a single Mum and businesswoman managing parenthood with a relationship, friendships and a growing business I understand that we don't always feel successful. But why do so many of us internalize our accomplishments rather than celebrate them and...

Do You Suffer From Indispensability
? Indispensability is an affliction that I have identified as applying to the many of us - myself included - who run around trying to be everything to everyone but ourselves. Could you be suffering from it? The Concise Macquarie Dictionary definition of indispensable is: absolutely necessary or requisite; that cannot be disregarded or neglected. Based on that, and according to my non-scientific but purely observational and anecdotal evidence, you suffer from indispensability if you have these...

Define What You Want in Your Life and Find Your Purpose
If you could do anything in your life right now - what would it be? If you were asked to define a purpose of your life - could you? If you can't answer either question, you're not alone. They're such small questions but are increasingly asked as our lives get busier and everyone else's needs and expectations seem to get met before our own. Do I think we have just one purpose in our life? No. But I do think that people who are able to identify what they want are surer at knowing their current...

What is a Soul Mate vs a Life Partner
? Are you with your soul mate or life partner? Are you looking for your soul mate or life partner? As a professional psychic I have an overwhelming number of people seeking my help with this, but in order to answer these questions I will first define what a soul mate is and define what a life partner is based on my Guide-given information and professional experience. My definition of soul mate is; the person or persons who will not only walk with you throughout the journey that is your life -...

Non Believing Partners How to Make Mixed Intuitive Relationships Work
Developing intuition is a relationship with your true self, that must be managed and nurtured. The honesty you need to find, then establish and then develop in order for you to discover and nurture your real potential is essential. But what happens when your intuition is not supported by those around you? So many times intuitive people have trouble with a non-intuitive partner, so here are ways to make these relationships work. The thing is, all of us will find ourselves in this situation -...

Face Any Personal Challenge with Three Key Questions
Whenever I find myself facing a personal challenge I always focus on three core questions. I ask myself who I am, what I stand for and how I choose to do me (do is active - be is passive). Next time you are faced with a challenge, whether it is a choice you have to make or a job you'd rather not undertake, ask yourself these important questions to determine your best course of action. Who are you right now? This is not about who you want to be in the future. It's not what you have stuck on a...
