Information on Scripps Ranch in San Diego

Only a short drive away from downtown San Diego, Scripps Ranch is just close enough to enjoy the city and beaches of San Diego, but far enough to be a suburban neighborhood in a metropolitan city. Scripps Ranch is located just East of Mira Mesa, South of Poway, and North of Miramar Air camp. There are plenty of businesses and amenities nearby such as a Costco, Kohls, Vons grocery, Chilis restaurant and much more. Also it is only a few minutes away from other city center plazas like Carmel Mountain Ranch Plaza, and the I-15 freeway.

With a community the size of roughly 35,000 members, Scripps Ranch is diverse in ethnicity and age. According to the San Diego County Assessor's Office’s 2008 estimates, the median age was 39.5 with the average household size of 2.78 persons. Additionally, the average household income was $122,840, making Scripps Ranch a neighborhood of families.

The quality of the Scripps Ranch school district is also appealing to those who want to raise children in the public school system. All four elementary schools, Dingeman, E.B. Scripps, Jerabek and Miramar Ranch, in the Scripps Ranch district were recently awarded the Scholar School Award by the San Diego Unified District. This award was given to only 29 schools in the district, and is given to schools that show significant academic achievement levels. For older children, the Scripps Ranch High School is equally revered. Nationally ranked by Newsweek as number 365 in 2008, Scripps Ranch High is one of the best schools in San Diego County.

Its location makes Scripps Ranch a beautiful area, and an ideal neighborhood for a family. The geographic region of this city makes Scripps Ranch well known for their eucalyptus lined streets, and for the lake as well. Miramar Lake, where many people go for a jog, to have a picnic, and many other traditional outdoor activities, is one of the biggest advantages to living in the area. On any given day, a number of residents can be seen at this park enjoying all its amenities. The park also has 18 barbecue grills and 48 picnic tables, making Miramar Lake a perfect place for large parties. The lake also gives the community an opportunity for recreational boating and fishing when water level allows. The paved pathway around the lake is a popular spot for runners and walkers from all over San Diego.

Scripps Ranch is more than just a neighborhood. Scripps Ranch is a community that dedicates itself to building a strong connection between all its members, of all ages. The numerous annual events held in Scripps Ranch makes it popular throughout all of San Diego. Their annual July 4th parade brings people from all over together, as well as their annual bike rides and fun runs.

As one of the nicest communities in San Diego, Scripps Ranch is an ideal neighborhood to live in. Beautiful and quaint, it is the type of community where one actually knows their neighbors, and cares about them.
