The Latest Fashion Trends for Work

Compiling a list of universal fashion rules for the workplace is difficult, since dress codes vary from place to place. For some workplaces, you could show up in your pajamas and no one would care, while others demand strictly formal business attire. But if your workplace is somewhere toward the middle of the spectrum, here are the rules to keep in mind.

1. Follow others' lead: The first time you show up to an officeâprobably for your interviewâglance around and check out what the other people in the office are wearing. Make a mental note of how people dress, and when you start the job, start out a degree more formal than everyone else. You can adjust as you settle in to your job.

2. Follow the rules: Always remember that, while your work is important, it's not what defines you. You have to be willing to set a little bit of your personality aside during your work hours. Even if you're a rule-breaker by nature, you will benefit from following workplace fashion rules.

3. Don't show too much skin: Your midriff should always be covered, your skirts should go below the knee, and any cleavage should be modest and tasteful.

4. Don't wear see-through clothes: Your co-workers shouldn't be able to see through to your underwear. Before leaving home in the morning, be sure to check out your outfit in bright light. Err on the side of non-transparency.

5. Don't let your straps show: Again, allowing your co-workers to see your underwear is not a good idea. If your bra strap is showing, this means that you're doing something wrong. Also, make sure your shirt is properly buttoned up, and don't wear an outfit that will reveal your underwear any time you bend over to pick something up.

6. Lower your hemlines: When wearing skirts or dresses, always go a little longer than you think may be necessary. Save your short skirts or leg-revealing dresses for the weekend, and keep things professional during work hours. Even if you like showing off your toned legs, this will only be a distraction to your co-workers.

7. Avoid showy designs: Anything that you might wear, for example, on a hot date or to concert should be avoided at work. Save lacey or strapless items for the evenings. Your work clothing should be simple and understated.

8. Wear professional shoes: Flip flops and sneakers are great for weekend activities, but they look a little funny at the workplace. Invest in a few pairs of comfortable shoes that are also nice enough to wear to work.

9. Keep it loose: Of course, you probably don't want to go to work wearing baggy clothes, but you also don't want your clothes to be so form-fitting that they draw attention to your curves.

10. Don't be too crazy: In spite of all these rules, it is perfectly fine to let some of your personality shine through in your work clothing. Just stay away from clothing that is too wacky or out of line with the general office aesthetic.

Vintage Shopping Secrets For Beginners
In the world of fashion, the acceptability of vintage clothing seems to change with the economy. When everything's going good and people are making lots of money, vintage apparel goes out of style. Where to Find Jeans and How Brands Stack Up
Shopping online Whenever you're shopping for jeans online, the best place to start is on the jeans company's website. After that, start looking around at the sites of major department stores. For example, you can go to the sites of Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, Macy's,...

Taking Back Beauty Embrace the Woman You Are
The last couple of decades have been hard on American women, as competing cultural trends seem to be conspiring to make us feel bad about ourselves. On one hand, the American diet is more unhealthy than ever, while most cities, towns, and suburbs are not designed to make it easy for people to get outdoors and exercise. On the other hand, the media presents increasingly impossible ideals of beauty, all of which place a heavy emphasis on thinness. It doesn’t help that, nowadays, many Americans...
