I love to challenge people and ideas. That's what I do. Here's a scenario: If you knew of a way to make a million dollars every time you pushed a certain button on earth, and you could only push it 10 times, what would you do? Sounds like the EASY button that Staples advertises, huh! What if there really was a button like that?
Okay, let's say there was only ONE button, it was in a certain location, and anyone would be able to touch it. Who would you tell?
There's a great question, right there. Family and friends would probably be your first choice. Okay, so all of your family and friends would be taken care of, for the rest of their lives. But what about the rest of the world? Wouldn't you want to make this world a better place for everyone?
If you had something that you knew was GREAT in your pocket, and the whole world would benefit from it, how would you get the word out?!
There's the big question that everyone that's reading this has. You know it is. You have the greatest business, (probably online) and it has HUGE potential. You just don't know how to tell the world about it. It's the number one reason why people quit online programs. They just don't know how to get the word out there! They have a great product, a great business, a great opportunity, they just don't know where to start or where or even how to advertise or market it! Really, my friends, it's sad. Very sad.
Let me tell you my friends, the program is absolutely genius, and works extremely well! If you've ever wondered about marketing on Twitter, keep reading!
Here it is, 4 simple ways to market on Twitter:
1 - Remember back in the top of this blog how I said, "Relevance and Value"? Guess what, it's at the TOP for a reason! THE most important thing you will ever, ever, ever see online! GUARANTEED! Those two words are what is going to get you to make it, or break it! Listen people, if you don't have Relevance and Value in your Tweets on Twitter, nobody is going to care, and nobody is going to follow you. Heck if you don't have relevance and value in anything you tell anyone online, nobody is going to care.
Listen - if you keep sending the same Tweet or your website link over and over and over, people are going to stop following you! Go ahead, try it! The online community is becoming an "anti-spam" community, and people HATE IT! Heck, I hate it! DON'T SPAM on Twitter, don't spam ANYWHERE! People will roll their eyes whenever they see your smiling face on their computer, and stop following you!
Ever wonder why Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, and popular online mail programs have "Anti-Spam" folders? Think about it.
Trust me, if you don't spam, and you give people relevance and value, you will be successful online. No question.
Relevance and value - two key ingredient to your success. First, you have to get to know your business. That way, you'll know what you're talking about when someone asks you about it. That gives you relevance. And you have to tell people that are truely interested. Don't talk to someone about your website and the opportunity that you have if they're clearly not interested. You're wasting your time and you're making a bad name for yourself.
Next, you have to give people something of value. What I mean when I say that is this:
"Don't post your website link every time you Tweet!"
"Talk about life in your Tweets! Not just business!"
The truth is, if people want to know about your business, they'll ask or they'll check it our for themselves. Giving people something for FREE is what everyone wants! Give them something that they can use that will help them with what they're trying to accomplish! There's plenty of free things out there!
Check it out, here's a few:
Tweetergetter: Get TONS of followers with Tweetergetter!
Twirl: Desktop client for social software!
TweetDeck: Your personal browser for staying in touch with what’s happening now, connecting you with your contacts across Twitter, Facebook and more.
2 - Be a follower! How can you expect people to follow you, if you don't follow other people? How will you ever know about other great programs that are on and offline if you don't follow people? I guess a great question is this: How can you be a friends with someone and talk all the time without listening? You can't, and that's what hurts your VALUE and RELEVANCE.
Following people is a lot of fun, and people say the greatest things! Did you know that NBA players tweet? Shaq tweets! Even during games! It's the greatest. You just never know what people might say, and sometimes it's down right hilarious!
3 - Provide variety. Variety is the spice of life, right? Spice up other people's lives! Don't just tweet about your website. Provide affilate links to different sites, links to your articles, your videos, and your blogs! As you gain more and more followers, people will visit those more and more, and that will greatly increase your search engine rank for your websites!
But like I've said earlier, don't just spam on Twitter. Be yourself. You're not a walking, talking billboard so don't be one! Relevance, and Value. Tell a joke, give a funny story, and just tell people something like, "I'm going to bed now. Goodnight." Be a friend, a real person. That's what attracts people!
4 - The last, and most obvious (but very important) thing about marketing on Twitter:
"Don't promote anything illegal, racist, sexiest, or negative - and DON'T CUSS on Twitter!"
What a turn-off. I've seen people cuss in their tweets, and man is it a drag! Even if they're trying to be funny, it's not funny. Not at all.
Doing this will definitely degrade your relevance and value!
In closing, just remember that people are looking for positive things in their lives. Things that make them relevant and valuable, and things that make them happy! Make people laugh! Say what's on your mind. Don't be afraid to look silly or goofy! It's who you are, and that's the most important thing about marketing online, is YOU!
