The Importance Of Using The Best Oil In Agriculture Machinery

Agriculture is an sector where quality definitely matters. Responsible for growing the food and raising many of the animals we eat, it is important that the agriculture industry maintains high standards at all times and utilises only the top quality, most appropriate equipment. Agricultural oils are therefore one of the things we definitely need to be aware of, and for those who work in the field, using oils that have been specifically developed and approved for agricultural use definitely makes sense.

Agricultural oils can be used for quite a few different purposes. One of the most obvious examples is engine oil; farm machinery such as tractors and harvesters need to be properly lubricated to keep the parts in good working order while still being appropriate for use in the circumstances. Hydraulic and transmission oils are also frequently used for agricultural purposes. If you are using agricultural oils, one of the most crucial things to consider is how they oil will be stored before use; there are various regulations that need to be followed for safety reasons - especially if you are making use of fuel oil - and so it's worth being aware of them. For instance, if you are utilising fuel oil in your agricultural work, it needs to be stored in a container that is impermeable to oil, and if you are using it in large quantities, the container often needs to be kept in a second, significantly larger container.

One of the main reasons to use agricultural oils rather than standard grade oils for lubricating farm machinery is that the oils have been especially selected for the job. This means that those who use them can typically enjoy enhanced performance from their oils as a result. Ideally, you should be looking for engine and related oils that are fluid at low temperatures but that are still able to give excellent protection when machinery is operating at high temperatures, as can often be the case in the industry.

Since the cleanliness of agricultural machinery is also very important, it's worth looking for specific agricultural oils as they should have been developed with this in mind, as well as working to reduce general wear and tear on the machinery. It is important that you choose high quality oils that have been treated so there is no risk of them causing corrosion or oxidation, or of them foaming after they have been applied.

You also need to make sure your agricultural oils are suitable to be used in situations where heavy loads and a significant amount of stress needs to be taken care of, as well as in a range of temperatures. Oils that have good anti-wear properties can help to extend the life of the agricultural machinery and help to keep it in good working order.

When you consider how much of agriculture is about getting the timing of events right and how important the machinery is to the smooth running of the industry, it certainly helps us to understand just how important the role that agricultural oils have to play.

Some Thoughts On The Testing Of Hydraulic Machinery
Whatever type of hydraulic machinery you have, you must maintain it correctly to ensure safe working conditions and so that the machinery itself is fully efficient and in working order. Often the hoses are the weak spots and these require daily inspection before use. Modern hydraulic hose fittings have been developed to cope with the demands of the work that these machines have to stand. The hose fittings are essential to the machinery as they have a major influence in the function,...

Puwer And Loler Regulations
Every business has a duty of care to its employees and this is where the Health and Safety Executive (or HSE) comes in. There are numerous regulations for the workplace and the equipment used at work. The legislation that covers equipment in the workplace is the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations or PUWER. This legislation was brought into force in 1998 and it covers things like hand tools, automated machinery, in fact any tools or equipment used at work. The workplace can be...

How Hydraulic Systems Work
Hydraulic systems such as hydraulic jacks work by Pascal's Law which states that whenever pressure is increased at any point within confined fluid, there is an equal increase in pressure throughout the container. All that means is that where pressure is applied at one point, it is then transferred to another point through the non-compressible fluid, so if you have 2 pistons, one on each side, connected by a tube half filled with water and you press down on 1, the other will rise. Of course...

The Importance Of Choosing The Best Office Chairs
Picking the right office chair is not as easy as it initially sounds, and can become quite a complex mission. So it is important to set aside a deal of time in order to assess exactly what is required. It is not just a matter of looking through brochures, or visiting office furniture suppliers, but of taking into consideration the importance of a comfortable chair for one's employees. Being as they will generally spend most of the day sitting at a desk, if the wrong chair is purchased, you...

Why Custom Gaskets Are Required In Some Instances And Why They Are Better Than Standard Ones
There are occasions when it is better to purchase custom made gaskets rather than choosing just standard ones. This can be particularly important if you require a unique type of seal which is difficult to fit with standard off the shelf sizes. A custom made gasket will not only fit correctly but it should last longer. Obviously, custom gaskets will be more expensive to buy, so it will be worthwhile to buy in bulk. There are basically 2 types of custom gaskets available and these are mesh and...

Enerpac Lifting Equipment
Enerpac was founded in 1959 and began manufacturing hydraulic equipment. It has gone through many changes over the years but one thing has remained, Enerpac's driving desire to manufacture hydraulic equipment of exceptional quality and to a very high standard that is able to do the job for which it was intended. Over the next 20 years, they gained a reputation for the manufacture and development of a whole range of hydraulic and other precision engineered tools. They were innovative and came...

What You Need To Know About Hydraulic Tools
The use of hydraulic machinery has grown dramatically over the years, and today it is used in many different industrial activities. With such a high demand for the equipment , there is stiff competition and the manufacturers of hydraulic machines are, therefore, understandably very keen to produce the very best equipment with a smart design, well manufactured and built to perform reliably for many years. Of course, all users of hydraulic equipment will want a hassle free system, but the...

The Importance of Oil In The Modern World
There is no mistaking that there is a lot going on in the motor oil world, just searching on Google shows that. Checking in April 2012 the stories on the web include Valvoline launching it's next generation oil I Canada, a press release confirming that G-OIL a 'green' oil will reduce carbon footprints by 67% and Champion Oil announcing that it will be supporting Earth Day in 2012 and that is just a few of many stories. Besides all this news there is the ever changing supply situation, world...

Cutting Fluids Some Interesting Facts
Cutting fluids which are used in machine workshops will ensure that the cutting tools will be protected and work properly. Cooling and lubrication are the two most important functions of a good quality cutting oil. As well as affording long life, a good cutting fluid will also prevent rusting and rancidity. Cutting tools become very hot during use and it has been proven that this heat contributes to wear and tear, so it is vital that the cutting fluid provides cooling. Any reduction in...

The Importance Of The Right Motor Oil Grades For Colder Conditions
Motor vehicle manufacturers and oil companies invest millions in motor oil grades that work under wide-ranging climatic conditions. The result is the virtually fit-and-forget reassurance that we enjoy as year-round vehicle operators - whether driving artics in the UK, tractors in Germany or hatchbacks in Hammerfest, above the Arctic Circle. While you should understand the importance of the right motor oil grades for colder conditions, the good news is that oil companies and manufacturers make...
