Ventilation Systems That Can Be Used For Your Home

The right ventilation system in your home will allow you to enjoy clean fresh air when you are indoors. A ventilation system continuously gets rid of the stale air from the home and replaces it with fresh air from the outside. You can enjoy cool fresh air during the hot season and warm fresh air during the cold season.

A home ventilation system will get rid of any bad smell in the house and will provide uniform ventilation in the entire home. There are different types of ventilation systems and an expert can assist you in identifying a system that will be ideal for your home.

Balanced Ventilation System

A balanced ventilation system is one where the amount of fresh air that is drawn into the home is equal to the amount of stale air that is extracted from the home. This system can be installed in different ways. Fresh air can be supplied to the living rooms and bedrooms while stale air can be exhausted from the bathrooms and kitchens to the outside.

Alternatively, vents that bring in fresh air and exhaust vents can be installed in each room. The balanced system can work well in cold or hot climates but it does not get rid of the moisture from the incoming fresh air.

Exhaust Ventilation System

The exhaust ventilation system is made up of a fan that is connected to ducts from various rooms in the home. The ducts carry stale air from the rooms and the fan expels this air to the outside. The home then becomes depressurized and fresh air replaces the stale air through vents and cracks in the home. The exhaust ventilation system is suitable in cold climates and it is simple to install and is not very expensive.

Supply Ventilation System

The supply home ventilation system forces air into the home by use of a fan and this increases the pressure in the home. The stale air then has to find its way out through fan ducts, the bath and any cracks and holes in the building.

The fresh air that comes into the home can be filtered to remove any particles so that you can breathe in clean air. Since the house is pressurized, any gases coming from the fireplace and other gadgets in the home will not have the opportunity to be drawn back in but will be extracted effectively. The system works well in areas that experience a mixture of warm and cold weather.

Heat Recovery System

A heat recovery home ventilation system absorbs the heat from the stale air and uses it to warm the fresh air coming in from the outside. One fan brings in fresh air from the outside while another fan expels stale air to the outside. The system has a unit where the exchange of heat from the stale air to the fresh air takes place.

Both the stale air and fresh air move through the unit at the same time but do not get to mix as the heat is exchanged. During the warm season, the heat is absorbed from the hot incoming air and is transferred to the outgoing stale air. This keeps the air that you breathe in cool and fresh.
