Insights on Different Audi EV Charging Levels

While Gasoline and diesel cars have been around for over 100years, electric cars seem to be the future of the automobile. Of course, Gasolineâs supremacy has not vanished. But, you can see it waning due to the rise of electric cars. Gasoline and diesel car owners who were once against electric cars, stating itâs impossible to charge and maintain, are now turning to electric cars due to the vehiclesâ cool features and advantages of owning EV, especially Audi. Audi is the pinnacle of German engineering combined with luxury and thrilling performance. Audiâs EV range offers a seamless driving experience with its excellent features and sophisticated design.

However, with the rise in electric cars, recharging batteries of vehicle routines are evolving behaviours. Itâs of utmost importance to understand the different Audi car charger levels when considering electric vehicle equipment.

Level 1 Charging

With a Level one Audi electric car charger, you can charge the vehicle through a 120 volt and alternating current (AC) plug. Level 1 charger requires a dedicated circuit. In short, level charging is like using the standard household outlet. However, level 1 charger is standard on vehicles and portable. So, it doesnât require the installation of the chargers in your home or workplace. One end of the cord is a standard, three-prong household plug, while the other end is a connector that could be plugged into the vehicle. Level 2 can take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours to completely charge a battery. However, the charging time differs from one model to another based on the battery technology used in the vehicle.

Level 2 Charging

Level 2 charging equipment allows charging through a 240volt AC plug. The level 2 charging equipment must be installed in your home or office. With level 2 chargers, to charge a typical EV, it takes at a rate between 12 to 60 miles of range per hour based on how much power the charger can supply and how much power the model of Audi EV range can accept. Approximately it takes 5 to 6 hours to charge a dead battery completely. Moreover, a Level 2 Audi charger is compatible with plug-in electric hybrid cars as well. It is commonly found in residential settings, car parking areas, workplaces, and other commercial settings.

Level 3 Charging

It is known as DC fast charging and different from AC chargers available in most homes and commercial settings. DC charging is available in high voltage and can charge plug-in electric cars with as high as 800 volts, allowing rapid charging. Most level 3 chargers provide about 80% charge in just 30 minutes. However, this type of charger is not compatible with all-electric cars.

Anyone can charge their electric cars at the Audi plants as Audi plans to install 4,500 charging points for electric cars and plug-in hybrid models with all types of charging levels.
