Many people will be surprised that Adobe Flash, formerly Macromedia Flash, is capable of making an entire web page. The versatility of the application is because of its graphic approach in page building. Many people find difficulty in facing a widespread notepad, dealing with pure computer language. By graphic approach, it makes the user “see” the formation of the page as he/she puts the blocks piece by piece. In short, this program is a convenient combination of art, coding and animation. It is up to the page maker if some objects in the page will be Flash made, or if it will be the whole page. The steps below tell how to make a Flash website—entirely with the program. The first step is creating the layout for the design. The usual document width and height used are 720x500 and 800x600 pixels. After this, the makers can now create the background by choosing and making their combination of color and texture. They may also import images to serve as banners and backgrounds. Positioning them is easy because the program uses the drag and drop interface. The next step is adding content for the page. Remember that Flash is like Power Point or Photoshop that uses the system of layers. The makers can make new layers which may consist of text or images. They can be easily positioned and swapped whichever is wanted to be at the front. The objects can also be resized with simple click and drag. Whatever the content is, the programmer can make an “action command” out of it. In other words, this is programming what will happen if the page viewer clicks on a specific object. Now, menu buttons can be added to the page. Flash can make several types of menu buttons: simple one-click buttons, those that need double-clicking, check boxes and drop boxes. You can reposition, resize and recolor them too. These are also classified as objects so they can be provided with Action Scripts too. Action Scripts are instructions on what will happen if certain conditions are met. A good example is when a new page loads when a button is clicked. Page makers can also opt to make a pre-loader screen. This will be displayed when the objects of the entire page are still being loaded by the viewing computer. The program can also be used to construct animated banners and even interactive games for websites. The best part is that objects made by this program load quickly, attracting more viewers. The skills on how to make a Flash website is essential for making effective pages—those that will surely capture the attention of most internet surfers.
