Best Time To Visit Corbett with Family

Jim Corbett National Park is one of the oldest and most prestigious wildlife sanctuaries in India. It is also the birthplace of the âSave Tigersâ movement. Located at the heart of the country, Corbett Park has won the hearts of all who have had the chance to visit it. It offers travellers great solace and peace of mind, and even has adventure for those to crave it. For the wild-hearted amongst us, Jim Corbett has safaris and for the peace lovers, it has the moonlit sky and the chance to stroll by the beautiful river Kosi.

It is an unflinching reserve of natural beauty nestling in the lap of the Himalayas. Jim Corbett National Parkâs weather is mostly pleasant and bearable even in the harshest of summers. In fact, even winters here arenât that extreme. Having said that, do check on the Corbett weather before you pack your bags and head here.

The best time to visit Jim Corbett Park is between November 15 and June 15; these months are agreeable with travellers from all around the world. Depending on what youâd like to do at Corbett, you too can plan your itinerary for one of the most memorable vacations of your life!

The following is a breakup of climate in Corbett so that you can plan your perfect family holiday:

Season wise Weather in Corbett

Season Avg Min Temp Avg Max Temp
Summer 15 °C 40 °C
Rainy mid-30°C range
Winter 5 °C 26 °C

Weather in Corbett from March to June

The summer months of March to June see bright sun and high temperatures. At Corbett, a lot of the summer heat takes a backseat because of the lush vegetation. Although the weather in Corbett can be on the warmer side, the heat is not overly troublesome. It can even be pleasant.

The sunlight makes its way through the dense canopy of trees; in places where the tree cover is not as dense, the temperature can rise to 40 °C and travellers are advised to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Also, donât forget to wear a cap or sunhat when outdoors.

A lot of animals venture out and visit the drinking pool more often during the summer months. This makes this season the best time to visit Corbett for spotting tigers and other animals. The best activities during this time are jungle safaris, a picnic near Corbett Waterfall, and river rafting if you are into water sports.

Weather in Corbett from July to September

The months from July onwards mark the monsoon season in the area. A majority of the park remains closed till after October owing to landslides. That said, there still is a lot you can do in these months if you plan to visit Corbett. If you enjoy the rain, monsoon may be the best time to visit Corbett. You can look forward to experiencing the dampness of the jungle, and consequently the wonderful smell of petrichor.

This is the mating season for many animals and while it might be difficult for you to spot them at this time, you can definitely go for an elephant safari. You will also be able to spot a lot of beautiful dancing peacocks. A sighting of Indiaâs national bird at its finest will definitely make the trip memorable for you.

Although going for a typical jungle jeep safari might be difficult during these months, Corbett offers great seclusion and solace. This is because most travellers do not flock to the park during the monsoon. You can enjoy trekking, going for the elephant safari, and angling for fish amidst some much-needed serenity.

Weather in Corbett from October to February

The light mist in the early morning sun and the faint fragrance of dew on the grass conjure up an unforgettable imagery. The winter season means low temperatures and the entire park looks beautiful after the rains are gone. The trees and foliage become denser; there is no concept of âfallâ in the evergreen jungles of Jim Corbett.

The park is a true abode of rare birds during this time of the year. If birding is something you enjoy, you should make bookings and mark your calendar right now! You can spot a variety of bird species and maybe even sight the Royal Bengal tiger if you are lucky. Animals come out to laze in the sun during the afternoon, making it a good time to spot them.

The winter months are the best time to visit Corbett. The temperature is mild, the lowest being about 5 °C during the night. The magic of the park comes alive during this time and you can enjoy innumerable activities. Interesting things to do would include a jungle safari, bird-watching, camping, and visiting the nearby Garija Temple, among others.

Just a short drive from beautiful hill stations like Nainital and Manali, and conveniently located in the middle of a jungle, Jim Corbett is the perfect place if you need a weekend getaway from the pollution of the city and its hassles. It is the ideal destination even for an extended family vacation, as you connect with nature. In short, Jim Corbett National Park is the place to visit with your family.
