Running How to Start With A Bang

Often, getting started in any endeavor is the hardest part. Itâs the same with running. As simple as running seems, getting ready and beginning the fitness routine can be difficult for some people. However, if youâve already made up your mind about running, here are ways you can effectively start.

Read Up

Reading about running helps you get mentally ready for what you are about to do. You will be able to know what to expect, injuries to avoid, as well as set the record straight on certain blurred information about running. There are a lot of magazines you can buy, but there are also free stuff online. Check out blogs which feature running tips and info.

Set Realistic Goals

Goals are important in any endeavor, whether itâs in fitness or anything you do. But itâs also important to set realistic goals too. Stop crime in the whole country in three months? Maybe if youâre Batman. Run a mile in 5 minutes on your first try? Only if youâre the Flash. Unrealistic goals will likely discourage you if you are unable to reach them. So start with something reachable. It can still be a mile in 5 minutes, but after two weeks of running. However, donât set the bar too low. You want to succeed, not underachieve.

Invest In Running Gear

Luckily, running isnât an expensive sport. You donât have to buy a small ranch, a few horses and put up training obstacles. All you have to invest in is good running shoes and clothes. If you took the first advice and read up, youâll probably know that you need shoes which are gait-specific to protect your feet and help you perform better. Choose breathable lightweight running shoes, too. Like the ones from Lotto. The Italian brand is known for its superior technology and durable materials. Lotto running shoes are also readily available in online shops.

Clothes-wise, you donât have to choose between substance and style. Running clothes nowadays have the technology and stylish designs. Technical wear has the sweat-wicking properties perfect for runners. Again, you can choose technical clothes from brands like Lotto, Diadora or Reebok which you can find online.
What about an activity tracker? An activity tracker is a nice gadget to have. But you may not need it yet during the early stages of your run. Besides, trackers can be a bit costly. As your running routine progresses, you can fully decide whether an activity tracker will be a great addition to your running gear or itâs an unnecessary expense.

Get a Running Plan

If you want a more professional approach, get a running plan. The training regimens are available online. But if you want a more personalized plan you may have to pay up. Hiring a running coach is also a good idea. Coaches can monitor your progress and teach you the right form and techniques. If a coach and running plan is a bit too much for you, then buddy up with an experienced runner who can guide you.

Finally, similar to any other sport, starting is just half of the battle won. The next half is about sticking to it even when it gets difficult. So keep in mind, when running becomes harderâendure. Because running isnât just physical, thereâs also a mental and emotional aspect to it. If you fail that, then you will never reach your fitness goals.
