Introduction...

I want to introduce you to the severity of the Aids epidemic sweeping the country of Papua New Guinea with this story…

One of my traveling companions from Australia was Steve Lelasi from Adelaide. Steve had been to New Guinea the year before and told us how he had prayed for a young girl who was just 21 years old and was dying of aids.

He asked how she got it and she said from her husband. Her husband had since died from the disease. Even more tragic was that her young 7-month-old child had also died from the dreaded HIV virus.

The good news for this lady is that she was mightily healed by the power of God and I had the good fortune to meet her myself. She was still in good health and had subsequently had a number of tests reconfirming that she is indeed HIV negative. The sad part of this story is that she is just one of possibly thousands of innocent victims of this virus. She was infected by her cheating husband who gave both her and her child the Aids virus.

In the stories you will read further on in this book you will see how one fellow was infected deliberately by a girl who already knew she had Aids. This fellow in turn thought of deliberately infected others as well.

One can only imagine how many are deliberately spreading this disease. Plus in most cases 2 or more years pass by before they know they have the disease and so there are many unknowingly passing the HIV virus onto others.

This is a tragedy for this country. So much so that at the Airport in Port Moresby the first thing you are greeted with is a huge sign warning you about Aids. Other huge signs are spread across the major roads in the city. Also in Garoka where we spent most of out time on this visit there was also a huge sign on the market roof warning against the virus as well.

The good news is the Power of God is working in many lives. So much so there is an extraordinary number of people being healed of the HIV virus.
