When you think of being a network marketer, what kind of business do you have in mind?
One reason that so many people are not involved in some kind of legitimate business is that it is so difficult for the average person to start up and run. There are all kinds of issues that may need to be addressed, not the least of which are research, development, financing, forecasting, planning, production, marketing, sales, distribution, accounting, inventory, fulfillment, legal issues, among a host of other things.
Consequently, most of us remain consumers, not producers. Most of us remain wage earning employees, not profit making business owners. Most of us just don't have the resources; know how and perhaps even the ambition to own a real and profitable business. And even more telling is the fact that most of us hate to do anything that involves selling. Yet, when you stop to think about it, what kind of business doesn't involve some form of sales and marketing to some extent?
The sad fact is that most people will never become financially independent and wealthy just by earning a wage. Most of us will remain stuck in our 9 to 5 jobs for most of our lives. Then we will retire and try to live off of a pension and perhaps some stocks and bonds if we're lucky. Most of us will never have the financial freedom to live life to the fullest, the way that we've always wanted to and deserve.
That's where network marketing comes in. It provides a solution for the average person who wants to benefit from the rewards of owning a real business, without struggling with most of the complexities that go with it. In this respect, network marketing is easier to manage and relatively quicker to grow and profit in, than most other businesses.
But the operative word in network marketing is "marketing," as in, for example, marketing and sales. Marketing and selling is how the networker earns his money. That is the kind of business that he is in. Profit can be generated from both direct and residual sales.
So, the vital thing to remember is that if you are involved in network marketing, or you want to be, your business is marketing and sales. The secret lies in finding effective ways to do this that best suit your temperament, your talent and your goals. If you understand this, then you have overcome another barrier to your success.
