The fantasy concerning rejection

Believe YOU Can

The concept of rejection happens in our own thoughts. We come to feel the rejection together with our emotions. Could this be merely a notion? Simply because somebody says ‘no’ to us does not necessarily mean anything more than that the person says no.

Yet we make much more out of this. We take it personal if somebody denies us a request. In fact in some instances we feel turned down without even asking first. We just ‘know’ they are going to say ‘no’, so we feel turned down without even trying.

The myth in the thought of rejection is the fact that there is absolutely no rejection. We ask someone for help and they really do not have time, are too occupied with difficulties of their own, are on their way to a crucial meeting, feel that they cannot help in any case and many more reasons.

It's unlikely that any of these reasons have anything at all to do with you the asker. They are all centered around the other person’s condition and emotional space they are in. Actually what we often forget about is that others, just as we tend to be, are so involved with what their own desires are that they are not aware most of the time that their ‘no’ reply could even be considered a rejection.

However we help to make this to be that. There are many people who allow a ‘no’ to have an effect on their future life. In some instances this perceived rejection may lead to serious psychological problems. Young individuals who act poorly blame their parents for having turned down them, or that the school system did not handle them well or maybe their peers ignored them.

In many cases this might not be accurate. Parents who ignore their offspring are so involved in their particular egos, they can not see their children. They did not reject them, they are just too busy together with themselves.

That might mean the fact that parents can not get away from their own addictions to alcohol or drugs to take take note of their offspring. This could be a father who is always at the office, a mother who has to work as well to support the household and a lot more. But the child might view this as personal rejection.

When we look at just about every action by another individual toward our self as a possible kind of rejection then we have a problem in living our lives. The consequence of anticipating rejection even when there is none, means that we are unable to grow within our own selves.

Believe YOU Can

Many of us would be reluctant to advance toward a goal that requires the participation of many people as we might expect rejection along the way. This anticipated rejection would stop us from wanting to move forward.

What if this rejection is purely a feeling we experience rather than an real truth? What if the other man or women means us no injury, or does not think we are a bad person for inquiring? All of those identified harmful feelings we experience when somebody says ‘no’ are all meaningless.

Simply because someone can not help or has to say ‘no’ to a request we make does not make us a failure. It does not make us an unworthy person and this does not necessarily mean our goals ought to be forgotten.
