Taking care of bonsai trees

So you think that you are interested in growing a bonsai tree? Well you have to be ready for a bunch of hard work as growing bonsai tree needs lots of time and patience. It is so worth it because the results you get are just incredible and very fulfilling. You get to see your endeavor flourish into unique expression of natural beauty.

There is a large range of bonsai trees to choose from for you to grow in your home. Bamboo is a great option that is found in true Japanese gardens. The Braided Monkey Tree is another bonsai that is considered to be the ‘Bringer of Good Fortune’. These trees are very tolerant and resilient to poor treatment, which makes it a great place to start for a novice Bonsai tree owner. The Jade trees has hearty succulent green leaves any owner can boast about making it a prize choice.

One of the most famous choices for growing bonsai tree is the ficcus tree which is a miniature of the Banyan tree. This is a great option for an indoor bonsai plant and is found in numerous varieties where there are small leaves and has slow growth habits. When growing bonsai trees, remember that there are different care instructions that have to be followed for different bonsai trees.

The ficcus bonsai tree, my personal favorite, has to be kept indoors; while it is possible to make occasional trips outdoors for fresh air and sunshine. The most important detail about the ficus is to never let them dry out. This can result in disaster. The bonsai soil should always be wet. The ficcus bonsai should at times be soaked, with the container it sits in for about 10 minutes and then let to be drained till there is no water leaking from the bottom.

Repotting is another important point in growing bonsai tree. The ficus bonsai has to be repotted every two years. However, don’t delay if the tree has a growth spurt. You need to repot immediately to avoid root damage. You may as well repot it within a year. The best time to repot a ficus is during the spring months. On repotting in a larger bonsai container, you have to ensure that it is watered thoroughly. Then the ficus bonsai has to be placed in a shade for about two to three weeks till the root system takes hold in the new bonsai soil.
