Level 2: The higher you go, the more information you are required to give, in addition to the last level. Thatâs why this level requires:

Level 3: Level 3 processing is where most big companies want and should to qualify in order to benefit from some real benefits regarding transaction fees and charges. Level 3 processing requires:
â¢Â Â   all data for Levels 1 and 2
â¢Â Â   Postal code for shipping location
â¢Â Â   Recipient postal code
â¢Â Â   Invoice number
â¢Â Â   Order number
â¢Â Â   Amount
â¢Â Â   Line item details of the purchase.

Top credit card providers need each merchant to fulfill certain standards before being considered for Level 3 processing. For instance, Visa and MasterCard requires each merchant to have between 20,000 and 1 million transactions done with their respective cards in order for a merchant to qualify for Level 3. Also, each merchant has to submit a series of documents that attest the fact that the transactions actually took place. Only after completing these steps can a merchant benefit from the lower interchange rates associated with Level 3 processing associated with each credit card issuer.
