Whole House Ventilation Enjoy Clean Fresh Air At Home

Home is indeed the place to be as this is the safe haven where you can unwind and be yourself after a hard day out in the world. It therefore goes without say that your home should be the one place that gives you the healthiest and most comfortable environment so you can rest and refresh. You may however be dealing with a situation where your home is not the freshest place to be. If you are unable to breathe in fresh air in your house and would like to change this, then it is time to consider whole house ventilation.

Contamination Of Air

There are very many activities that take place inside your house that release pollutants and moisture into the air. These activities include cooking, showering, washing and even breathing. Sometimes there is so much moisture in the house that it ends up condensing on your windows. This condensed moisture ends up causing the structure of the house to weaken. You may even find some black spots on your walls - this means that mildew is growing. Dust and spores from the mold usually get into the air and circulates around your home, causing you to have allergies as you inhale this unhealthy air.

Home Equipment

There are a variety of appliances used in the home that contribute to the pollutants and gases found in the air. Some of these appliances include gas burners, water heaters, space heaters which are not vented and appliances that are used to burn wood. Some homes even have chimneys which leak, which makes it hard to breathe, and thus the importance of whole house ventilation.

Heat Recovery Ventilator System

A Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) System is a controlled whole house ventilation system. It decreases pollutants and high humidity in the home by interchanging the stale air with fresh air. The used air from the home is usually damp, stale and warm. The warmth from this used air is what is used to heat the fresh air as it goes into the house.

The HRV has two fans and a heat exchange that transfers the heat from the outgoing warm used air to the incoming cold fresh air. Immediately the fresh cold air is warmed up, it causes humidity to go down which results in controlling condensation. The outgoing used air and the incoming fresh air do not mix at any point in the system. What comes into your home is therefore fresh air that is dry and warm.

Importance Of HRV System

If you have an air heating system in your house, you can use an electrostatic filter to reduce any contaminants that may be in the air. This system, however, does not address the problem of stale air, moisture or even gases that pollute the air in the home. You may also decide to use exhaust fans to get rid of excess moisture in your bathroom or kitchen. The problem is that as the dump air is pushed out, a vacuum is created in the house which causes air from outside to rush in, bringing with it contaminants and dust. As such, the HRV system helps to create ventilation in the home that is balanced.
