More than 40% of the population of our country is under the age of 20 and are acquiring their primary, secondary and higher secondary education. The current education system has been altered from what it was a decade ago. Technology and politics being the major influence of this.
However, this changing and advancing education fashion need to focus on one of the most important, rather paramount topic of value education. Infamously, not inculcated in the curriculum, value education finds a place only in a handful of schools. And this should be the major concern than a misery. Hence there’s a major need and importance of value education in students life today.
Value education is built on a vision to ingrain core values of Excellence, Ethics, Dignity and Diversity. The curriculum seldom considers the importance of value education in schools, in fact there is no value education in school curriculum. Value education given right from the primary level to students would help them in a better understanding of worldly matters. The world around keeps on changing and so does the education system, what remains constant is the smart value education that we possess.
The crime rate in India is proliferating amongst juveniles as well. The sole reason behind unlawful acts is the absence of education, notably value education. Hostility arises when a person does not think logically and ethically. Students in schools, colleges develop a whirlpool of emotions when they’re growing up. Thus, value education for kids in school, in a student’s life is important and value education in today’s world too. Thus value education is important in schools and colleges for every student.
There are a number of activities that can be conducted even when the curriculum of value education is not entirely included. Value education notes, value education activities such as social work, playing team games, the daily ritual of prayers and many more are the best ways to engage students. Reading and speaking positively of things is another aspect to it. Kids in school adapt to it more easily than high school rebellious teenagers. But, a sensible explanation and a mellow approach turn out to be effective than chiding.
Apart from the basic values, value education in schools should also impart value units and value educations topics of Respect, Love, Tolerance, Happiness, Responsibility, Cooperation, Humility, Honesty, Simplicity, Freedom and Unity. These are the topics for value education in high schools for children.
It doesn’t matter how learned you are when you don’t hold a certain value with you. Simple education might make you a learned being but will never make you a good human being.
