What is Impetigo and how to get rid of it

The skin of human beings is susceptible to a lot of different stimuli. Millions of people have to deal with maladies that are isolated to the skin tissue, and that includes rashes, abrasions, and more. One of the many options that people deal with on a general basis is that of impetigo. This has been stated to affect millions of people globally, and while it is not common in adults, it does hit children. This is a bacterial infection that causes a great deal of irritation, itching, and more. It can cause open sores to form, and can travel a bit.

Understanding The Symptoms

Itâs important to understand that this is a contagious skin issue. It can form around the nose first, and then runs across the face, neck, and body. It can form into a colorful scab and can even contain fluid. It is often marked with a scar tissue and something that is definitely visible. While these are not painful in the traditional sense, itching them can open them up and cause serious issue. In certain areas, due to the lymph nodes being part of the issue, fever can arise and cause problems. Ulcers can also form due to the abrasions that are formed in this. There are also complications that can manifest, including yellow scabs, and puss filled sores that can go through the deeper areas of the skin. The deeper tissue can get caught up with this and form deeper scars, in which case the patient may have ecthyma.

Root Causes

The root causes can be varied, and contribute to the malady as a whole. The main issue that is blamed is that of staphylococcus aureus. This is the root cause for both major issues associated with impetigo. Another root issue may that of malnutrition, anemia, and poor hygiene. People that are living in tropical and warmer climates are also more susceptible to this option as it is commonplace in developing, heat stricken areas. Again, this is a contagious infection and can be spread through direction contact. It takes 3 days from exposure to see infection spread. Itâs imperative that a person doesnât scratch any of the sores as it will spread and cause even more tissue damage to the dermal layers.

The Treatment Options

For those that believe that they have this issue, treatment can be given through a variety of options. The main treatment is that of topical ointment. This can be applied directly on the sores and skin and should help things settle in a matter of days. For those that are dealing with severe cases, doctors can prescribe antibiotics that are strong and can change things up faster. Those that are allergic to things like penicillin could get a different drug, but it will most likely be topical in nature. Very few people die or even have complications with this skin irritation, and it should not be cause for too much alarm. However, it is contagious, so itâs imperative that people be careful when dealing with this issue.
