Almost everyone has the tendency to get nervous and scared during a face to face interview. However with certain steps we can prepare ourselves to face the Interview and come out with flying colours to reach our dream jobs.
Here are few tried and tested tricks:
⢠Plan Ahead: Firstly Be Prepared. Browse the Employerâs website, Social media sites and other related information for knowledge about the company. Do a research about the positions and try to meet few employees of the company if possible. This will help you gain insights about the companyâs working style.
Do a review of your own work experience. Support your achievements with specific information targeted at the companyâs needs.
⢠Role Play: After finishing your research do a role play (rehearsal) of the Interview. Be prepared for frequently asked question like âTell me something about yourselfâ of âWhy should I Hire you?â. Make a note of the answers and try to make it better. Keep your answers in relation to the needs of the company.
Take advice from HR professionals as to get a better picture of what recruiters are looking for and how to speak accordingly.
⢠First Impression Counts: FIRST IMPRESSIONS always counts. No one gets a second chance to make a first impression. So DRESS PROFESSIONALLY and make yourself presentable. Your body language often says more than your resume.
⢠Be On Time: If possible, get to the Interview Venue 30 minutes earlier to calm your breath and nerves. Donât be late â whatever your reason might be. Remember - No one gets a second chance to make a first impression. If at all you are late due to any issues, ring up the employer and let them know about the delay and your expected time of arrival. Itâs a matter of great disrespect if you do not do so.
⢠Be Positive: Never ever criticize your past employers, mainly those who are within the industry. Focus on your positives and strengths.
⢠Encourage: Always try to encourage the employer to share more information about the company by asking relevant questions. This also would demonstrate your interest in the person and the company.
⢠Adapt and relate: Listen to what the Interviewer is saying and adapt to the situation at the earliest to the style of the interviewer. Relate your answers accordingly. Focus on your achievements which are relevant to the particular position.
⢠Eye Contact: Always maintain eye contact with the person(s) taking the interview. They would feel you are not interested in the job if you avoid eye contact.
⢠Be honest: Do not lie about your past. If you get you might lose the job as well as self respect in the society. Jobs interviews are a part of matching needs of the company and the candidate. If the match is not good enough the relation wonât last long.
⢠Donât give up: The point is that you will not get selected in every interview you apply for, however good you might be. Feedback from the failed Interview chances are essential to improve your chances in future interviews.
Always remember â there is a job there for you, just that you need patience and preparedness to get there.
