Adult ADD Forget The Yak Butter Tea

Have you ever gone into the grocery store and come away with a lot more than you ever intended to buy? Or, have you gotten home and realized that you forgot one item or 10? How do those things happen? Simple. Part of it has to do with your adult ADD. But don't worry. There's a way to avoid both sides of the issue, and it's pretty simple.

Because you have adult ADD, you can be impulsive, and grocery stores are all set up just hoping that people will impulsively buy. Think about it. Why do you think they put stacks of things in your way as you're trying to navigate the store? It's so that you can't miss seeing them and so that people will impulsively see an item, pick it up, and put it into their grocery cart. Or, why do you think supermarkets have so many small items at the checkout? There's where your adult ADD distractibility and impulsivity kick in. "Oh... that new cracker you saw on TV. I'll just buy this overpriced sample and try it. Maybe I need some Gorilla Glue, or Gasp! What's Paris Hilton up to now?" Personally, I don't really care, but some people really get into that stuff, and because the tabloids are right there at the checkout, they sell, along with all the candy, first aid creams, nail files, and assorted other junk. You really can't forget stuff like that because it's right in your face.

Yet the things you need aren't right there in your face. Sometimes, you have to hunt for them. How about pepper? It's not something people buy all the time, and unless it's imported Tunisian Camel Pepper, it's probably not where your eyes can pick it out easily. Do you impulsively pick up the $3 pepper or find the 99 cent version? Will you remember to find the cheaper pepper or just grab that Tunisian stuff right off the shelf because you see it quickly?

You spend so little time, just rushing through the store, paying too much for everything, and when you get home, you smack yourself and say, "Argh! I forgot the milk! I just left the store and because I picked up the doughnuts right next to the milk freezer, I forgot the milk!" Then, you have to go right back and get that item you forgot. Or, you find out that you forgot when you're waiting in line. In fact, maybe the checker is already working on your order. Do you squeeze back through the line waiting behind you to get what you forgot? If you do, people probably aren't too happy with you, and you hear them all thinking, Uh-huh. Adult ADD. Right?

Don't make yourself crazy like that. The easiest, most efficient way to stop yourself from buying yak butter tea and remembering the important things is by making a grocery list and sticking to it! Don't allow yourself to deviate front that list, unless of course, it's a staple like milk, bread, or eggs you forgot. You'll find yourself saving money and losing weight if you just stick to that list.

When you have adult ADD, making lists is the easiest way to keep yourself from impulsivity and forgetfulness. Buy a pad with a magnet attached to the back and put it on our refrigerator. Each time you run out of something, note it on the list. If you can do that religiously, and if you can then remember to take the list with you when you're on your way out to the supermarket, your adult ADD days of impulse buying and forgetting what's important will be over.

Adult Add And Women
Because girls with attention deficit don't usually have the hyperactivity component that accompanies ADD, they're thought of as being emotional or difficult.
